Merry Christmas! We’re alive! We’ve been having some awful email issues, and were unable to email, or reach our address book for a while now.
Let’s catch you up on the last two months:
October 27-November 4th-9 members from McGregor Baptist Church were here to conduct English conversational courses and to speak in a local high school. These guys put in 12 hours over 2 days in the high school as we spoke to various sized classes and groups. Sunday-Wednesday we held 2 hour English conversational courses in the cities culture house. The most we had one evening was 9 people attend, but it was evident that these were the people that were supposed to attend.
The final night the team was in Olomouc; we had a celebration at our flat where over 20 people attended. We had a great time of eating good foods, playing fun games, and just hanging out with Czechs and Americans!
Please pray for our Bible Discussion Group that has begun out of these classes.
Pray for Jiri, Veronika, Monika, and Marketa, who have all been a part of the group that is meeting in our home.
November 30-December 8th- 4 members from Dublin Baptist Church were here to help man a Christmas booth in the cities main square. During the entire month of December there is a Christmas festival in Olomouc, where people come to shop, drink, eat good foods, drink, listen to various bands, drink…
Over the course of 7 days we handed out over 1500 cookies with Bible verses attached, countless brownies with Bible verses, around 1000 cups of hot chocolate, over 200 More Than a Carpenter/Gospel of Luke books, over 100 New Testaments, hundreds of invitations to English classes in January, near 50 blankets, numerous Christmas tree ornaments made by the hands of children from Dublin Baptist, pillow cases, dish towels, kitchen/dining table runners…
Pray that the Lord would draw many Czechs to Himself as they begin to read his Word.
Pray that many will attend our English Conversational Classes that will be held twice a week in January.
Chloe-We were in Budapest, Hungary for 4 days for physicals, eye exams, dental appointments, and of course Chloe examined by an Orthopedic Doctor. As you may recall we have been to 6 different doctors in the Czech Republic and have heard everything from there is no problem-to-make her stand with one leg bent for a few years-to-we should move to a climate where Chloe can walk on sand and grass year round-to-Chloe should have a surgical procedure performed on her knees…The doctor in Budapest said that we should be concerned when she is 6 or 7 and April reminded him that Chloe is already 6 years old!!! He suggested we engage her in physical therapy, but didn’t give us any guidance as to what, where, or when.
Pray for Chloe, and all of us, as we seek out a physical therapist in Olomouc.
Pray the Lord would lay his hands upon Chloe and correct all the structural ailments.
Pray for the Lord’s will to be done and ask Him to use this situation and all of us for His glory!
January 6th 4 students from Impact360 will arrive to partner with us 4 weeks. We’re excited to have Dave, Lezlie, Jason, and Brittany join our team. They’ll be leading English conversational classes, speaking in a high school, conducting surveys, sharing their faith, and just hanging out and loving on the Czechs in Olomouc, but best of all, the Lord will draw them closer to Himself and continue transforming them into the image of his beloved Son.
Pray for each person and for Kingdom Impact.
Pray that each of us would remain healthy.
Pray that a Bible discussion group would spin out of all these 4 students will do!
Basketball! Steve is still playing basketball every Tuesday at 7:30pm. His team entered a tournament and finished in 2nd place. Steve was unable to play in the tournament, so maybe that is why they were only in 2nd place. Ha!
Pray for the guys who play basketball with Steve. Pray for open hearts.
April continues to have ample opportunities to spend time with Czech women. Women seem drawn to what they call her good energy. April calls it God working in her life.
Pray that as these relationships develop the women would sense April’s love for God and for them. Pray the Lord would draw these women to Himself.
Chloe, Vance, and Sophie are all in their school’s Christmas play this year. Chloe has landed one of the lead roles, and will be playing Eve from the Garden of Eden. Nothing says Christmas like the fall! Actually, God promised to send the Messiah right after the fall(Genesis 3:15), so they were already looking towards the birth of the Savior of the world. Vance and Sophie will be a dinosaur and a monkey. It should be very entertaining to say the least.
Adoption-we had our last Psychological interview/visit last week. We were deemed mentally stable and fit to adopt a child. Whew! We thought our tree sketches had sunk us! Ha! Now we have to get an update financial letter and physician’s document from the International Mission Board, then we wait for the next available baby boy!!!
Pray for wisdom, patience, and the child.
Lottie Moon Christmas Offering-If you are Southern Baptist we would like to thank you in advance for your generous giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. 100 percent of the offering supports the 5,100+ missionaries overseas of the International Mission Board.
We wish you all a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year. We appreciate your prayer and support for each and everyone of us!!!
